Rupert, haven't you seen the energizer bunny commercials? What do you think Green Lantern has been using all these years? Energizer 9 volt batteries run the main power battery on OA, D cells for GL's recharging station,and double A's for the ring.

I looked into this further and found that you actually use a controller to tilt the fan. However, if you think harder the fans speed up and if you think less they slow down. Thus, changing the height of the ball. That's it.
