Cayho makes really nice props. There is no doubt of that. However, trying to construct a routine for five cups may be a bit daunting for some.
I would suggest before trying these that you work out a really good three cup routine. Then, work out a really good chop cup routine with a single cup. After that, go off on tangents.

Thank you, Bill and mindyourmagic.
He also makes a wooden cups and balls set, which looks very tempting. Have you looked these over, Bill? |

It would help a whole lot if you would post a link to anything you want me to comment about. Also, if you sign on for the cups and balls museum, you will find over 1400 sets of cups and balls, grouped by types, and also in a database that you can search by material and manufacturer.

Thanks!! That makes it much easier. I have a set of cups in the museum that looks very much like these, except that the cups do not have the two rings cut into them just below the saddle.
These are very nice cups. I don't normally use wooden cups when I perform; however, Suzanne the Magician, who performs regularly at the Magic Castle, uses a set similar to the ones in the museum. Some wooden cups are not very stable. Wood can crack if it is not handled properly. On the other hand, with a decent wood glue, you can repair it without any difficulty at all. I don't believe you will have this problem with Cahyo's products. Cahyo subcontracts to a number of manufacturers and wholesalers.

I have an Indian wooden set that has very thin walls and flat saddles. A ball won't stay on top, and the wood is so thin, it's not possible to take any off the saddle to "dish" it. These look much, much nicer!

I'm going to have to ask Cahyo about getting a set of these other cups.

I tried to find somewhere to buy them on the site, Bill. It looks like it's only for wholesale via that site. A Google search didn't bring anything from a dealer, though they probably only advertise them as "Wooden cups."

The Trickery has a set for sale, last one.........I'm buying mine via a private seller.
BTW, I'm looking for a wooden chop cup that has a 'full cup' wooden load, which can be unscrewed to 'reveal' the ball. Can anyone help? I suspect they are by Khin from Cambodia. |

In case I wasn't clear, it's the Shaman cups that are available at The Trickery.

A lot of the wooden cups from India are made of very soft wood. These can split if not handled properly. Also, the walls are quite thick, so the attic space is often limited. These are best used in routines in which there is no nesting.

Basically 2 types from India, and I have them both:
Uday, a light coloured cup,and as Bill says, very thin. Wholesales for $2 Funtime, Sam Dalal, a darker cup and much better quality. Wholesales for $10. |

There are many more than this. Sam Dalal is only one of the Indian manufacturers who is part of Fun Time.
