Congratulations!

Did you change the routine?
Did you get any feedback from the judges?

A coin trick and two card tricks.

The judges smiled.

Thanks for asking.

I felt nervous.

Afterwards I felt good.

I think I passed because I did close-up magic, rather than platform.

I am a performing member of the Magic castle. Your audition was to become a magician member. Magician members have access to the library and lectures along with other benefits that associate don't enjoy. To become a payed performer is a whole other ball game. If you are not a well recognized name in magic you will probably need to send a video of your show. If they like that they will ask for you to audition in front of an audience (Friday lunch). Then you may get hired. If you want to become a magician member I recomend doing effects that you know well. Although you may not want to perform standard beginner effects such as hot rod or scotch and soda. Have fun, and be confident.

I failed the first time I auditioned.

I did not stick to my tried and true routines...I took some bad advise and didn't do my stuff because it wasn't "unique"

The second time I did my standard stuff, nothing fancy in it except my personality. In without a problem...have now performed there for two different brunches. (kids shows are my favorite, even though I do many different shows).

So what is magic all about?

Magic is like...?

Why?

Can you make a simile or metaphor that helps to explain magic?

Wha is the difference between a pro act and a normal act? Good is good and in my opinion if we wanted to be repected there isn't really any in between. We have to be good. All of us.

I think you need to use cards instead of gimics. I passed an audition last time in the talent show. I did Sick Aces...

Good luck with your magic tricks...

Well,

don't feel too bad. I've seen many of the "judges" perform at The Castle. Some of them definitely should never have passed the auditions.

Best,

I would dress like Vernon ( makeup and all ) and pretend I was a ghost. When it cam time to auditon, my head would explode ( confetti shooter ). I think that would take the stuffiness out of the audition and lend itself to being relaxed.

Yeah, gee.

I should have thought of that.

Well there is always next time.
