I know there's many "give me good tricks" threads, and that wherever you look you see tips on good tricks to preform in a restaurant, but I would like to see what people actually use.
So if you have a restaurant job and don't feel that you want to keep the list a secret: Just list the top 10 or so tricks you use when you work, without picking your favorites or removing the boring tricks. It would be very interesting to see. Jonatan |

I've got a bunch of them. I've got enough material, I'm just interested in what people use when they work.

I say, ignore the urge to find out. The rewards will be many. Why clutter your brain with that kind of info. Besides, as you say, you have enough material already.
Most people that have been working a long time do their particular tricks for the bits they've added to it over the many years. Not because it was a stupendous trick, out of the box. Most people that have not been working a long time... well, do you really want their opinion anyway? If you can't help yourself, then search the threads. I recommend staying as far away from those threads as possible.

Frank nailed this one. I actually started answering your question when I realized that most of the routines I do barely resemble the original routine. Things are added or subtracted from the original routines to try and make them comfortable to the style and technical abilities of the performer. And, it's a seemingly never-ending process. Just last week I added a line to a routine I've been performing for almost 15 years. It made it better, more direct, clearer.

I only do magic now when asked or at parties and events. When I table hop I have found it to be a fact that people tip more when you give them something... That something is balloons.

I push my zigzag lady from table to table to cut the cutomer in 3rds.I also keep my metamorphosis in front of a table and stand in it and ask the customer if I can take their order. Then I yell tricked you! and through a table cloth up and switch with the waitress.Sometimes if the food is taking a while I do the chair suspention on kids eat free night. On slow nights I do card in their beer bottle or under their steak float their bisket and bend their forks so its hard for them to eat.
If I want the big tips I make balloons. Shawn D |
