Scott, I hope BSU gives serious consideration to moving to a bigger conference. One commentator here said (before the TCU game) that BSU would have won the PAC-10 this year.
Are there any discussions along those lines in Idaho?

If they take a Mountain West team, perhaps BSU could move there, although, of course, that's still be a non-BCS conference, too. There have also been rumors that the Pac 10 might expand to 12 teams, possibly taking BSU and Idaho, although as far as I know, that's pure speculation. But I think we could have won the Pac 10 this year. We gave its champion a real shellacking. Of course, the Pac 10 stunk this year, so that's not saying much. BSU has a hard time getting the elite programs to play us. Next year we're playing VaTech in DC and Oregon State at our place, I think. Nobody wants to come play us on the blue turf, where we are something like 70-2 over the last decade. Bill: I noticed the "octaves" thing, too, and laughed out loud. I don't believe that particular commentator is even a jock--if that's true, then he is really without excuse. Some friends who attended the game said about 65-70% of the crowd was rooting for BSU, and that it got REALLY loud when we made big plays and when TCU was on 3rd down. EDIT Just got this off an online sports page: The Broncos face Virginia Tech in Landover, Md., and Oregon State at Bronco Stadium in 2010 - the first time since 2005 that they have scheduled two BCS-conference opponents in the same season. Virginia Tech likely will open next season in the Top 10 and Oregon State was a play away from winning the Pac-10 this year. Beating both of those teams - on top of wins over Oregon (twice) and TCU (once) in 2008 and 2009 - would quiet many of the critics who discount the Broncos' success as the product of a weak schedule. The rest of the schedule features few challenges - on paper, anyway. The most difficult games are likely at Wyoming and at Nevada.

A couple of other points regarding next season:
The coaching staff will return. Chris Petersen has agreed to a new five-year contract. He's 49-4 in four seasons with two Fiesta Bowl wins, three undefeated regular seasons and three top-11 finishes in the polls. We're only losing 4 seniors, and only 1 of them was a starter. Our leading rusher, DJ Harper, has been out since the 3rd game this year, and is expected to start next season. 23 of the 24 guys started the Fiesta Bowl will be back. Kellen Moore, our quarterback, is only a sophomore, and he led the nation in several stat categories this year. We will start next season in the top 10 for sure, probably in the top 5, and some experts have predicted as high as #2 in the pre-season polls. So, if we run the table again next year, who knows?

Boise St is also the winningest team of the decade.

Looks like it was TCU's year, this year.
Maybe next will be Boise's. I won't be surprised if it is a bit of a down year for TCU next year, what with a new quarterback (who barely played this year) and plenty of seniors leaving. I was surprised at how the MWC was so open about the reasoning for changing next season's Boise v. TCU game from a home game for TCU to a home game for Boise - to try and avoid a possible Boise loss, and keep Boise in the hunt for big things, thereby boosting the MW Conference, in general. The reasoning is lucid, but just surprised they actually did it!
