I'm looking for some lighting to add to my show and I came across this company on the internet. Has anyone ever dealt with this company and, if so, what was your experience? Thanks!

Kent -
I generally warn serious magicians away from using DJ style lighting UNLESS it is for a single effect and built into it. Experience showed me that for stage lighting DJ equipment lights can be temperamental and easy to break even for these limited uses but sometimes are the only reasonable way to light up a single illusion economically. I prefer (and offer on my props list for sale) much more rugged standard stage lighting such as used on Broadway and in professional theater.... and avoided automatic (DMX) lighting for a long time as it was also prone to be finicky (while I was active performing.) The differences -- for instance -- a semi- focusing Par 64 of steel using Edison connectors, with bracket, safety wire, gel frame and bulb (Painted with UL heat resistant black) will run (used) about $100 (maybe a little less in groups) per instrument. These are fire safety approved for heat dissipation and made of steel almost indestructible when hung by local crews. I also put in a bunch of various adjustable fixed focus lekos for pin-spottng stage areas or use as pattern projectors with custom made gobos. Variable focus zoom spots compliment these to define areas on the stage and I popped for a large follow-spot that is operator run.....including color control, focus, diaphram effects, shaping etc. also rigged to run on Edison plugs. I mounted these on two adjustable 10 foot towers and two adjustable 17 foot lighting jacks (the type you crank up) depending upon the venue. All run out of a Leprechaun board that is controlled by my Kerry Polak (aaahhhrghh the name escapes me at the moment) system, cued from pocket and ankles. It took me a few years of buying, selling and testing on the road to figure out that most Disc Jockey lighting is not up to the rigors of heavy traveling stage use. That being said, however, you might want to check with Chezaday on more up to date experiences with DJ stuff.
