Is 'The Berg Move' described in any book? On Revelation, volumes 9 & 10,Dai Vernon describes his ruse/experiment, presents, and explains the vanishing knot that he finally explained as Berg's move. I just wonder if it is in print. Thanks.

It is a beautiful move and one of the most convincing looking vanishing knots you would ever perform. It is on the Dai Vernon Revelations video series and also in the Berg Book.

According to legend, Berg showed the knot to Vernon and Vernon went away and cleaned up the handling...so much so.... that Berg couldn't figure out what the hell was going on! Vernon had to show him the changes that make this such a beautiful move. Anyway, that's the apocryphal story.
Getting the handling and timing right is key in this trick. I can't tell you how many guys I would show this to who couldn't get it from text.

Hmmmmmmmmmm.........
I guess that one of the lifelong benefits of being a student of the art of Magic, and having a Magic library that you treasure, is to see a post like ehands about "The Berg Move", then seeing tstark's comments about the move being published in The Berg Book (which I have in my Magic library), then looking up the move in the book. I did....and it looks terriffic!!! Thanks, guys for the posts! This is one more reason why a great Magic library ia a lifelong resource......I LOVE my books on Magic~! By the way...The Berg Book is chock full of "Berg-isms"! |
