Congrats! Im very jealous.
The 2 yrs I lived in LA I had neither the time nor the guts to go for it.
It is always darkest just before you are eaten by a grue.

Thanks everyone!
Sorry about your experience Rainboguy. I didn't know that the Castle was like that in the late '80's. Glad things changed since then. I should mention that I passed in February (when I first posted this). Since then, I've gone to the Castle about once a week. It's been a fantastic experience.
Check out my new book on our 'perceptual superpowers': www.LawrenceRosenblum.com . It discusses new research on the psychology of misdirection and the neuroplasticity behind expert motor skills.

Yes, congratulations also. It's really hard to say what people are looking for and what they might ding you on. So it's important not to depend on a validation of an association to tell you how good you are. Just believe in yourself.

The Magic Castle! A dream I've has since I first got into magic in 1970. I lived in Los Angeles then, and had no IDEA about the Magic Castle. When my mother died, my dad came and got me and flew me to the East Coast, where I've been ever since.
It seems I missed out. I'm an old guy, now. I wonder if I could still "wow" 'em enough to become a member, if I EVER get back to L.A.? I perform VERY seldom, lately. I've had a number of setbacks that have all but drained me. It'll take YEARS to recover all I've lost, but some day I plan to revisit the west coast. Maybe I'll have my balls with me....erp...my BILLIARD balls (sorry), and a few coins, and try out at the Castle. My dream come true, would be to be accepted as a member. I just have to recover, first. (sigh) Doug |
