Looking forward to my yearly Mardis Gras gig. I do it at a local cajun restaurant and it's invariably a great time. Will be mostly doing my regular material, though I'll be wearing a purple smoking jacket and using one of those Okito Voodoo dolls.
Also I will have a back pocket full of beads. And an open bar tab. Anyone else doing a Mardi Gras gig?

Hey Natanel
I have one coming too! I'm doing regular material as well and oddly enough I'm also doing an okito voodoo doll! Great and magical minds think alike I suppose. Still working on the open bar tab though... lol Have Fun! -Dane |

^ Those dolls really are fantastic. I buy two since they're so cheap and "un-gimmick" one. When the routine's over I casually switch the two so the spectators can play with it.
Re: the open tab, basically it's a clever way to keep me from asking for more money, lol.

We have already had two weekends of Mardi Gras here. Everything I'll do in February that is not Valentines red and white, is Mardi Gras Purple, Gold and Green.
This year it is extra cold too! Bob Sanders Magic By Sander Posted: Feb 7, 2010 9:38pm There is more here http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......rum=54&0 http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......rum=54&9 Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

I can only imagine what these Mardi Gras gigs will be like now that the Saints won. A busker's dream I'd imagine!

4th year in a row I'll be at a local university for their Fat Tuesday celebration. They have me strolling, a juggler and a dixieland band.

Any fun ideas for beads besides the "top vanishing magic" they're already capable of? Speaking of which, everyone cut a queen card in half. Place that half on top of a deck, then an unaltered duplicate queen on top of that. Execute an Erdnase/houdini change while applying a little extra pressure to bring the half queen and card beneath above the unaltered queen. You've made the queen lose her top(half?), in a sense.
Just came to mind, haven't tried it yet but thought I'd share. -Dane |

I seem to make a lot of poodles using Mardi Gras beads. They go over well.

It would seem this is the year to make Saints balloons.

To late for this Mardi Gras thread but you can find plenty of necklace bead tricks in the OOP pamplet by Bruce Posgate NECKLACE TRICKERY.
Have fun, John
