I need to purchase an Ipod or Ipad to play music for my sound system (I'm using a Roland Street Cube amp). I'm just starting out so not too much money to spend. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Look for a refurbished iPod at Apple's website. They come with the same warranty as a brand new one and show no signs of use. (Apple replaces the case of those units.)

The models they have in stock change regularly. I bought an 8 GB iPod Nano (4th generation) for $99.

Provided you don't need random access to your music on the fly, an iPod Shuffle set to play a predefined playlist in order might work inexpensively. Just make sure you get one of the older models without the jank headphone controls.
