I would like to know the exact name of the following effect and where I might possibly get hold of it in print.

Haven't seen that before but if you can bend your fingers I think you can master it. Not unlike the old taking off your thumb.

Dude you should be able to figure this one out for yourself... modify a sixth finger and the steal and your golden. You won't see the steal in that video, it's cut away.
This probably isn't even a marketed effect. |

Thanks for the replies. I'm still interested whether this effect has seen print before. Anyone?

Definitely in print. I'm certain that I saw it, not too long ago, in a magazine. I was sure that it was Genii or Magic, but now that I'm looking for it I can't seem to find it.

I'm pretty sure the trick belongs to Hayashi, but I still cannot seem to locate the printed source.

Hi Guys,
The finger flinger effect was originally (to my knowledge) put in print by Peter Kane in his lecture notes entitled ONE CARD WONDERS. An effect was also released with a spike many years ago, I am not sure by who although I seem to think (for some reason) that Jerry Sadowitz's name had something to do with it. Chappelly is correct when he says that it is on my DVD THE SECRET ART OF MONKEY BUSINESS. I took the basic premise and changed it to a knife through finger. The effect carries on from there though. In my version of the effect (on the DVD) you then show a big hole through your finger and after this do a full finger restoration that looks very cool. It can all be done impromptu with a playing card, business card, beer mat etc. If you are interested in the DVD it comes with 7 or 8 other effects to boot. You can see it on my website at http://www.thecorporatemagician.com/magicstore.html Just scroll down about 3/4's of the page and it should be right there. Cheers, Matt Johnson |

I just noticed that while there are quotes there is (for some reason) no description of the effects on the DVD? Not sure why I did that, I have to change that.
Anyways, if you are interested in the Knife Through Finger the description along with the other DVD contents is below. Matthew Johnson presents The Secret Art of MONKEY BUSINESS, a collection of devilishly creative close-up routines that will bring out your inner monkey! This long-awaited DVD from the creator of Color Blind, Six, and Stabbed in the Pack offers 7 commercial routines, bonus routines, and more! Here are just some of the routines included: * Jack Is Back - A clever twist on The Ripper by Lee Asher. * Card On Head - Easy to do, commercial, instantly resets. What more could you ask for? * The Improved Vanishing Card Case - A previously marketed effect that has long been unavailable. Magicians all over the world have praised this version of a modern classic. Here for the first time, Matthew teaches you how to make your own. * Ring Vanish And Flash Production - Grab a ring and some flash paper and you are ready to perform some great visual magic. * Card Through Bill - A marketed effect that has become one of Matthew's best sellers is taught for the first time on DVD. * Knife Through Finger - A knife penetrates your finger leaving a giant, gaping hole that the spectators can see right through! In a split second the hole is visually restored. * Flick Of The Lip - Based on Lickety Flip by David Acer. This clever version sets you up to perform McDonald's Aces. Also included are bonus routines for Ring Flight and McDonald's Aces. Cheers, Matt Johnson P.S. The ad for Monkey Business 1 is almost at the bottom of the page :o) I guess I have more products than I thought! |
