Maybe someone has tried this before-
I have a show approaching where I need to shoot a single large ball of fire into the air. It needs to look considerably different than a flashpot, so I was thinking it would be simple enough to build a larger version of a hand-held flash paper gun. I tried it with various lengths and widths of tubing, as well as different ways to load the paper (loosely crumpled, stuffed in tight, etc.) and so far, I have only succeeded in shooting the fire about 1 foot above the tube. Is there something that I'm not doing? If someone can tell me how to shoot the fireball, say, 6 feet up, that would be much appreciated! Phil |

Flash Cotton compacted in the base and a Flash Paper ball on top should give you more height. The Flash Cotton is a bit more "explosive" when it ignites and this should give you a better launch.

This sounds dangerous, Phil, and it may also be illegal ... even to test it. Please contact your fire marshall, and I'm sure he/she can advise. Laws vary in diffeent regions.

These devices are built to produce your desire effect, however I agree with Dan, be safe and check with your authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) about the legalities and safety of this effect. http://www.theatrefx.com/store/commerce.......es_paper
For more information about performing with fire you can also visit this website http://www.nafaa.org/ I believe this effect would also fall under the NFPA 1126 codes, you can find that information here http://www.nfpa.org/catalog/product.asp?......e=search I hope this helps, Fitz
