Put all your packets in one deck; that's the idea behind Wiz Kid Qua-Fiki's "Go Fish Card Tricks." Instead of carrying around separate wallets for each packet trick, you deal them out of the one deck. The Go Fish deck is ideal for this because no one suspects it, and no one really knows what's in a Go Fish Deck. Most of the great packet card tricks of the past can be converted to Fish Cards with a fishy theme that opens up your audience to kids as well as adults. It's on my site if you want to take a look. It's not for everyone. You can't buy the deck; you have to make it yourself using your computer and printer, but if you are already doing some of that, you will find this easier than trying to print out jacks, queens and kings. Get fishy and Go Fish!

This idea has been used several times in the Past. Alex Elmsley had a "Dazzle Act" which was several different small packet effects, that he built into one deck. The entire routine can be found in the Collected Works of Alex Elmsley vol. II.
I do like the idea of using fish cards, opens up the window for doing these effects for children. With a nice laminator and some thick stock you could make some good cards that would last a long time.

Thanks for the information. I'll have to keep an eye out for the Collected Works of Alex Elmsley for our Wiz Kid Library, but they seem to be very rare (and expensive!). Dazzle is available as a solo packet trick and is shown on Elmsley's Tahoe DVD, but not the complete Dazzle Act, so I guess we won't be able to compare and contrast.
Qua-Fiki and I used his Go Fish Card Tricks book as an opportunity to study card printing techniques using an ink-jet printer and we think we have a pretty good method worked out (which is included free with every e-Book). We have not resorted to lamination because some of the effects require manipulations which are quite difficult with plastic coatings and we want to make sure that even those magicians who aren't regular card manipulators and finger flickers will have a chance with these tricks.

Brother John Hamman used the same concept in his "The Faked Deck", you can read about in "The Secrets Of Brother John Hamman" from R. Kaufmann page 216.

Yes, the Alex Elmsley books should be reprinted, it was one of the first books I bought when I got into magic, so I was lucky. I have the Hamman book, thanks for the reference I will check that out. Printing on cards is a difficult task, so if you have come up with a good method that is great. I do understand the problem with laminating, I only brought it up as a thought,

Laminating works if you want to make the Ultra Jumbo Size Cards (8.5 inches by 11 inches). Those cards receive different handling anyway - no glides to second deal from the bottom, for example. However, Qua-Fiki has worked out his own moves that work with Ultra Jumbo cards and ALMOST all the packet tricks in his Go Fish Collection can be turned into Jumbo card versions for stage, with just a few exceptions.
