I have ordered a 3 dvds from penguin and only 1 of them was shrink wrapped. They looked fine but it was a little strange as every other place I've ever bought from has had their dvds shrink wrapped.

Most DVDs are shrink wrapped - but some come from the supplier that are not.

Shrinkwrapping is an added cost to DVD replication and some effect producers choose to not have it done. As a dealer myself, I have even seen DVDs that are home-burned where the effect producer printed the DVD label with an inkjet and supplied them like that.

You see this with many of the less popular DVDs that are low quantity run.

It does make it hard to know if it is a pirated copy or not, but as long as you deal with a reputable dealer, you should be fine.

Thank you for explaining that Mark. That's probably the case with the dvds I bought. Now that I think of it I do have a few dvds with stickers for labels on them. Funny thing is because they were shrink wrapped I never thought twice about the dvd label. I guess I was just so used to seeing shrink wrap.

You could end up buying junk if you do, then buying a good version and spending more

Although this is most certainly a broken record question, it occurs to me that it might be good to ask this every 6 months or so to have a check on these magic e-tailers for customer service, pricing, inventory issues, etc.
I'm lucky to have a brick and mortar in my town but I have lately been getting the exclusive fun stuff from Higley, Outlaw, Steven's and H&R books for the used collectable editions before some really go OOP. And I have to keep the others to myself because while everyone else may show out of stock because of word of mouth off of this forum, I go to 2 very established OLDER stores that have a website and just click add to cart.

I also would recommend Stevens magic they were great to deal with.

Forgot to mention Denny's magic they were great to deal with as well.

Also Madhatter Magic Shop- GREAT people to deal with and just Unbelievable prices! I do ALOT of shopping around on the internet and I have not seen any other online stores that have better prices as a whole than Madhatter Magic shop- not to mention great customer service. HIGHLY Recommended!

And as you discover more specific magic topics, the Café' Quicksearch is an awesome tool - you get everything you want to know in seconds rather than wait for replies. And as you find out that everyone has their favorites and stick to it which is why there are no definitive answers for "what or who is the best" or "what is the easiest" Keep in mind that there are lifelong hobbyists who have never performed outside of friends and family to bona fide working pro's - I mean known worldwide, and that they all converge on here - very cool!
And one thing I know is that Magic is a lifelong pursuit - at least for me.

I don't know. For me I just search out the best price I can. The items they are selling are a commodity. I know this is what has hurt the brick and mortar stores, but I only have so much money.

For example I just got Miser's Dream Granted for $44.25 with $5.29 shipping. Mark provided excellent service and he usually throws in a bonus or two.

I think that most of the ones you can trust have already been mentioned.

One other type of online store that should be mentioned are stores like SEO Magic that list 68 "exclusives' on their site. SEO also carries Ton Onosaka's illusions. I have had good results when ordering from them.

Another stores such as Twister Magic also carries items that may not be anywhere else. I have not ordered from them.

I would support a local store but I live in a rural area where the nearest shopping (Walmart) is 15 miles away and the nearest magic store must be 250 miles away.
