My original plans were to have flown to Zürich last Saturday to teach a week-long Level III CFA review course, then to have flown home today, then to have flown to Frankfurt next Saturday to teach the same course there, returning home on May 1.
The Icelandic volcano gods apparently had other plans. So . . . yesterday I found myself in Zürich, having finished my course, with no convenient way to get home. (Next week I was to have been in Toronto teaching on Tuesday, and Los Angeles teaching on Thursday.) An instructor from Vermont was to have flown to Frankfurt today to teach a week-long Level II course next week, but he cannot get there from New York. Plans, therefore, change. I'm booked on a train from Zürich to Frankfurt this afternoon, and I'll teach the Level II course next week and the Level III course the week after. The instructor from Vermont will take my class in Toronto on Tuesday, and we'll have to find someone for Los Angeles on Thursday. I'm not completely sanguine about the outcome - I'm feeling quite homesick at the moment, missing my wife dearly, and I didn't pack for more than a week's stay - but at least I'll be getting paid for an extra week of teaching. So: some good, some bad. |

Be warned that there are significant delays on the trains due to the fact that there are a few million people in the same position as you are.
I hope you have few decks of playing cards with you to kill the time. |

Thanks! I thought about that as well, but, although the train was crowded, I was able to get to Frankfurt without any particular difficulty.
With two decks of cards. Now I just hope that in two weeks the planes will be flying again. |

That may well depend on the second volcano in Iceland. Don't know the names, but usually when the one that just blew...well...blows, it will sometimes set off another volcano just a few miles away. Worse, the second volcano is overdue for an eruption.

Holy Schweizerdeutsch Batman did you meet any Gnomes there?
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.
