I stand by what I say. You can't dictate moral behavior to people, because what you believe and I believe may be two different things. There isn't a baseline that we all start at.
Corporations fire people everyday just so it may help their stock a fraction of a percent. They ruin lives because they don't want their work force to be too old and they can save a little on health insurance. Do those people have integrity? Well maybe their peers would say so, but certainly not the families of the people who were let go. How about the Catholic church? All these priests accused of molestation. Instead of turning them over to the authorities, it's covered up and handled within the church. Felony crimes, where evidence is covered up can be considered racketeering. Where are their ethics and integrity? Now I may think that the church needs to turn these people in, admit the cover-ups and deal with the punishment, however someone else may think that it's the church's business and it needs to deal with it. These are two extreme examples, obviously WAY off topic, but I bring them up to illustrate a point, not even to prove a point, just to illustrate one. It's all about belief systems and we all believe different things. That's why I say that moral and ethical behavior mean different things to different people. Alright backinblack, it's your turn. You just keep asking questions. Provide some examples now. |

Pleasure to discuss with you.. did not think that I would find someone on this site to debate on such a high level.. I am positively impressed..
to our debate: morals, values and rights have a sense in society. the sense is to set free maximum of benefit for all including that there is a baseline as you said cause if some are made unfree to protect benefit for the rest (slavery e.g.) the benefit is corrupted. why? cause at least it is about freedom for the total society and making unfree a part of society leads to a not compensatable negative benefit for the total (3rd reich e.g.) due to the unsecure law-state of: who could lose their freedom next/which groop could be demonized and punished next cause they are different. this idea is not a dictate but a result of how peoples think and feel. at least it is best discovered in a feeling of justice almost every human has. this is the idea behind what I wrote before: "integrety that is not based on a high ethic priciple is pseudo-integrety.. name the moral principal (which is the source ot ethics) and you know what sort of integrity you are talking about.." to your examples: private run companies are what they are: the projects of peoples who take their right to achieve a aim in the sense of profit.. they are not father or mother of anybody and do not have the responibility as the familie has for their own (and only their own) children. old aged peoples are not fired cause it gives good pr and increases the value of the company. it is done cause lots of peoples develop with higher age the attitue: we always did it this way. we have to do it for all time (cause otherwise I have to lose my advantage due to those who start in the company). the sentence in brackets mostly is not spoken out loud by the old-minded persons. what happens if there are a lot of such thinking persons? gm is a good example for that: the company looses its possibility to compete. the owners loose the value they bought the company (shares of the company) for. the emploees in total lose their jobs (not only those who blockade new ideas which are necessary to save the future of the company) with the example of the catholic church you give good food for my argumentation. the priests take the freedom of those whey abuse. due to that behaviour there are laws. if the church would not cover these priests they would be punished sooner and benefit in this part of society would increase. with this example you also give a nice case-study for the reason that there is somthing similar as a dictate in morals. morals express that freedom (highest principle I know) of the indivduum has a higher value than freedom of those who want to gain benefit against the free will (freedom) of others people (reffering to what I wrote above). so at least we both agree that the behaviour of the catholic church has the less value in moral pinciple and so they should not have the right to do what they do (referring to what I wrote above).. now it is up to you to critizie my content in positive or negative way.. looking forward for your eleoquent statement.. if you did not understand some part I wrote (i am not english mothertongue) just write and I will explain it again using other wording.. best greetz |

A lot of magicians hate psychics for the fact that they are con artists that bilk desperate people. So basically, when magicians expose cold reading on tv, they are usually trying to help people. |

I have seen things exposed on tv and thought I will not be doing that again. As I am sure many others have, but the truth is how many people are watching the same things as us.

Another positive is that you can find a new method, which will defeat their explanation.
