I recently bought some 16" x 16" silks on eBay from frenchlibra46eh. They are made in France, are thin, and I think they are of better quality than the general supply stuff I've bought at magic supply houses.
One dozen for $30 or two dozen for $60. And there are some 60 colors to choose from. I am not affiliated with this retailer in any way. Just wanted to pass this along. On eBay, search Men's Pocket 100% Silk Squares Made in France. http://shop.ebay.com/frenchlibra46eh/m.h......id=p4340 |

Well, I must disagree with you on Men's Pocket Hankies be good for magic. The problem is in the hemming of the silks and the thickness of the silk.
These are fine for a single handling as cover for a coin routine but if you intend to use them in a production apparatus, then you will not be able to use the same amount that magic shops silks will provide. Finally, these do not have the brilliant colors that are used in magic. I use only the basic colors such as red and blue. Why on earth would you want to produce a gray hanky. |

I ran across the 100% silk pocket squares many years ago, they were more opaque than standard silks and a better momme weight for coverage. I used them for my "pepsilkola effect". Great color selection, and apparently have not gone up since I bought them in the 80's.
Hems were rolled and whip stitched.
