Hello everybody,
I got a simple question to ask, on Facebook, one of my client invited me to join her "group" for her daycare. Should I join or is it better not to join? Thanks you!

Join. Social networking is a gift to all of us to have anything to sell. I mean, not sell, but tell others about.

Wrong. Myspace is still a huge site for musicians. Incredibly huge and incredibly profitable.
Just because facebook is all the buzz doesn't mean no one is using other sites. |

Join! What have you got to loose?
I find myspace to be a bit trashy. Facebook seems cleaner and more universal, I even encouraged my pastor to join, and he did, and so did his children. Quote:

One thing that you should think about. How do you behave on Facebook? Is your language and content something you would want your customers to see? By joining this group on Facebook, that mostly consists of parents with their kids in the daycare, they will be watching you. That could be a plus for networking, or work against you. - Donald

Facebook is mainly private for the most part.
If one has to view your profile they have to have one too. For people who don't want to waste their valuable time especially for some who are prospective venues, I prefer myspace still. Only trashy people made it trashy. Myspace is actually going threw an overhaul. and its going to be more accesible and easier to manage more than before. In a USA today article a few weeks back they really are stepping it up and I think its going to be even better than it was before. And a much more useful tool for anyone in the business industry. They are intergrating with lots of other services too. Its a one stop shop so to speak. The only thing that could one up facebook and flip it over like it did with myspace is Buzz.

Ding, Ding, Ding, Donald Dunphy! Facebook is your public face. Let us all put our best faces on.
Nothing goes on my Facebook page that wouldn't pass my "Grandma" test. Which means, I don't post anything that would embarrass my Grandma. Love you Grandma! Edd

I would think anything public would pass the "Grandma" test...
whether it is facebook, myspace, twitter, onstage etc. I look at myspace similar to sonic. photo, bio, video etc... all in one.

I think sites like Twitter, Facebook etc... are helping in the demise of groups like the Lions. You can get your 'social fix' online in the comfort of your own home.
That coupled with the large role that government takes in "caring for people" has sidelined the perceived need for such organizations. The inner dialogue is something like "Why join the Lions Club when I can sit on my duff at home and network with everyone I want to and let the government take care of all the charity stuff?"

For eons, we have joined social organizations to "go where the clients go". We have only added online communities to this mix. So yes, join. But most importantly, join and be a benefit, don't just join to join. |
