Hi guys.
I have an AKG wireless headset system which is in the 700 Mhz range and of course will be illegal to use per the FCC on Jun 12th. AKG is offering a small rebate to upgrade your system and return your old one. I also purchased (separately) a flesh colored headset mic with an AKG mic connector for the body pack transmitter. My question...if I didn't by an AKG system, and lets say I purchased a Shure wireless set, is there such thing as an adapter to put on my AKG mic and allow it to connect to the Shure body pack? Will I still be able to use my AKG flesh colored headset mic with the Shure system? I did a Google search for everything possible...and came up empty. Thanks, Rich B. |

You will only need the correct male and female connector and a friend able to solder three wires.
I've done some adaptors for Shure to Audio Technica and it's only a few minutes to make the adaptor. |

Some owners manuals have the wiring diagrams in them. It may be a good idea to check online to see if the manual has this diagram, as well as showing what type of connector is used. I understand that there may be a difference in how the wires are connected, although the same connector may be used.

After verifying that your mic is compatible with your new wireless beltpcka, I suggest removing the original connector, and attaching a new one. The reaon is that, leaving the original connector and then uasing an adapter, will add too much weight to the alrrady delicate wiring. The built-in strain-relief of such connectors is not sufficient for so much added weight.

Thanks for the info...I can solder a few wires, but now it seems a bit more complicated. Lastly are all the various connectors available for purchase?
Thanks again. Rich B. |
