I have been looking for a P&M reel for quite some time to no avail.
I was curious if anyone had any recommendations on a substitute for stage work. I need something as strong, with a lock. I have not had luck making my own lock, maybe there is printed information somewhere that may work. If this is so, which reel would match up in strength to the P&M? Sequentially, if someone would like to sell one, I could use it asap. |

Also, if anyone has contact information for P&M, I would greatly appreciate it. Perhaps they have a few left overs laying around.
Thanks in advance everyone. |

If you cannot find what you are looking for, I have a PM Reel as part the his vanishing Rose effect. If interested let me know as I would be willing to sell. The reel is in new condition. |

A PM isn't all that difficult to make. If you've had one before then you familuar with the basics - and with a little thought you can rework make it better and more reliable.
Don't be afraid - just believe in yourself and with a $10.00 investment at your local hardward store (I like the smaller ones not the big box style ones) you can make a few that are specific for YOU! I know you can do it - I am a moron, professional fool and idoit - and if I can then you can too! |

I came across a P&M reel, however, it doesn't have the strength I need. The one I had before broke, this broken model did have the strength, however it is unfixable.
Can anyone recommend a reel with significant strength, that is not too much larger then the P&M reel? Regards. |

You should be able to take the reel apart - disconnect the spring and give it a few more windings before reattaching it. That will increase the strength.

There is nothing more powerful, unless you use an industrial reel line to hang automatic drills on for easy constant use. Really, anything more powerful will tear your cloths. If you would share what you intend to use the reel for, we might be able to help. If you do not believe you can fix the reel, send it back to me and I will repair for you. If you need stronger line, go to http://www.keybak.com and buy model, 485B, 484B, and 7B, and see which you can make to do what you need it for your purpose. If you want to something really strong and dangerous, get the Owen Bird Cage Pull, it only has an 8" or so length line. It is to strapped to your forearm. |
