Brian,
Which 2 card monte are you referring to?

Often, with any kind of effect like this, I will introduce it as more of a game than a trick.

With the kicker ending in the monte I think you are referring to it becomes more of a trick, although I like to avoid the "I fooled you" or "you missed it" presentation.

What patter do you use?

Stephen

I aint sure if this is a version of the 2 card monte or not, but there is a thing taught by Wilson on "Off the cuff" where you show the club and spade, place the club in the specs open hand and then show the spade, place that on the top and inform them the spade is heavier than the club and goes to the bottom.

They see the cards clearly before so are sure of what is on the top and the bottom.
but turns out that both cards are different.

The most interesting patter for this trick that I have come across is:

You proceed the trick with 2 queens and 2 other cards, ask the male spectator to think about two girls to represent the 2 queens, and ask which girl has higher status in his heart, and the trick ends with if he wants to get 2 girls at same time and he will get nothing... vice versa, 2 kings for female spectator...

I like a lot the patter about the girls... But do you transform the queens into what? Kings? or what?
Very nice ideia.

Dear G. Martins,

Transform them into Jokers.
Don't forget to add a pass to hide the Queens.
I always get enormous reaction performing this.

I think even stronger is to palm off the two aces and produce them from somewhere.

I like the idea about the girls and boys but how exactly do you do the switch (or the switches) then?

If you want to help but dont want to expose the trick here then please pm me?

thx in advance

I always approach it as a demonstration, and my patter reflects that. It also takes away from the "pulled one over your eyes" thing that can burn a spectator. Just a thought.
