I had a lengthy telephone conversation with Rachel today. She is at home, resting and trying to fight off the infection. Her mobility is quite limited due to the catheter (sp) to which she is constantly attached. She cannot proceed with her surgery until the infection is under control and they locate a doctor who is willing to undertake this risky procedure. I understand the cost of Rachel's valve replacement is likely to exceed $24,000.00. Then there is also the cost of recovery and the fact that they will have no income during all of that time.

I know we are in tough economic times, but if anyone can spare some funds to donate, they would greatly appreciate it. I donated what I could. I hope everyone else does the same. Thanks.

On his website now it says it could cost $200,000. We have 43,000 Café members here and sure would be nice to get as many donations as possible.

instead of just spending $5....donate $10 or $15. That would be a cup of coffee and a pdf from a Café' member. Well worth skipping that to help someone in need. At triple the amount per person, they might reach that goal quickly.
