The (still available!) video displayed tips and subtleties I didn't get from the book. Especially comforting was Mr. Ortiz' positive reassurance in the video that anyone could learn it, given a little time- particularly when it comes to the required independent movement of the pinky while the second and third fingers remain stationary. I am a book guy. I am glad I own a printed copy of At The Card Table; however, I found the DVD's provided much clearer insight concerning how to do the sleight. -A |

My observation is based solely on the pinky count itself, else, I would agree.

I'd like to revive this (somewhat) old thread.
I'm on a constant pursuit to perfect my DL and I discuss the move with a lot of magicians I meet. I attended a lecture with David Williamson tonight and he loves the PC and find it VERY reliable. i asked Daryl here at the Café when he had a Q&A a couple of weeks ago and he does not like it ( http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=355 ) Paul Wilson said at his recent Penguin Live Lecture that it "sucks". So this is hard! It would be really bad to put a lot of time into a technique that is not reliable. I'm at a place now that my 2 cared PC is aprox 90% so if I master getting the deck into the proper position with one hand I'll improve even more, but will this work under fire? Any thoughts on the matter is greatly appreciated:) (PS: I am currently using Ed Marlo get ready (thumb count-pushower and regular turnover). |
