Anyone know how many different Tenyo tricks were packaged in a poly bag with instrutions crediting Doug Henning and Jim Steinmeyer. I have a Wonder Window, Tunnel of Darkness, Squeeze Play and See Thru Card from this series. My understanding is that a distributor (I believe Fun Inc.) opened a number of Doug Henning Tenyo magic sets that were not selling and packaged the tricks individually.
Just curious, John |

I believe that there were 12 tricks that were made. Supposedly they were supposed to be distributed as 3 magic sets.
I know some of the tricks that were made were: Squeeze Play Occult Board Phanto Block Wonder Window Tunnel of Darkness Soft Coins Floating Lady Super Cubio Not sure what the rest of them were. I only have the Tunnel of Darkness from that set. I found it kind of strange that the instructions say it is by Doug Henning and Jim Steinmeyer and do not credit Sugawara or Tenyo. Just curious - Does their version of Wonder Window still have the Tenyo logo on it? I have the Marvin's Magic version of Wonder Window and although they did not credit the trick to anybody they left the Tenyo logo on the frame. |

Thanks xl18. Yes the Wonder Window has the full Tenyo markings.

Looked at the directions more closely last night from one of the effects in this series and it says "collect all 7". Unfortunatley dose not list which seven they are.

You're right. I checked my instructions for Tunnel of Darkness and indeed it does say "collect all seven". I had heard a while back that they made 12. Perhaps when they decided to just distribute them individually they only has seven left?

That could be the case. Have you ever seen one of the Doug Henning sets?

I have four of the items, - extras if anyone's interested.... I heard they ditched the whole thing before a set was ever completed. that all the pieces were dumped to the toy stores before the sets were finished. I have original unopened pieces and they are in bulk wrapping.
Ok, I'll meet you at the place near the thing where we went that time.

I happened to see this on Ebay and was reminded of this post. So based on seeing pictures of the first 2 sets I think we can figure out all 3.

Maybe someone can clarify. I was under the impression that Fun Inc. bought the sets and simply redistributed the tricks. I have a "See Through Card" Doug Henning version, and printed on the instructions is "Fun Inc." Also, the cards that come with it are definitely Royal cards. So was Fun Inc. involved with Tenyo and Henning from the beginning when they were sets?
Also, I have read that the sets were going to be too expensive for the number of tricks in them. Why didn't they just pull a Fantasma and inflate the trick count? Many Tenyo tricks have more than one presentation idea in the instructions, so you could easily double the trick count. Fantasma counts a tip as a separate "illusion", so I'm sure Henning and co. could have come up with even more things to do with the props. Now I know Fantasma came after these sets, but you get the picture. |
