Hello,
I am trying to find the actual value of Vintage 36" Rice Silks. I have 3 versions, the Rabbit in Hat, Dragon with orange colored background and a random patterned silk. All in great condition from a collection from the 40's to 50's.
Thanks for your help Smile

Unfortunately, Silk King Studio is still operating and all of the silks they are still carrying are “vintage” silks.

Some designs are not available in all sizes.

The 36-inch Dragon (in orange? Probably red as I don’t think that Rice ever sold an orange dragon silk) is no longer for sale and should pull a good price. The 27-inch Dragon sells for $35.00 so I would double the price as a start point.

The 36-inch Rabbit in the Hat silk currently sells for $55.00 and I think that is what you can expect to sell it for.

The other “random” pattern design silk is a hard one to value. Rice made four “random” design silks, the Medallion, Starlight, Diagonal Rainbow, and Sunburst. None of them are currently available in the 36-inch size. I would not take less than $60.00 for one. That should probably be your start point in pricing it.

I have a whole drawer full of Rice silks from the 60’s. I still use my rice Dragon and Rabbit in the hat design 20th Century silks.

Thanks Harry,
I am sure these are extremely old, earlier than the 60's. I guess that doesn't effect the value much. The Dragon Silk is actually Blue Border, Deep Orange background ( not red ) and a Light Green and Yellow Dragon. It is definitely a Rice Silk as it has all the same markings as the others.
I was just curious of the value. I would rather keep them. They look very nice in my display room.
Thanks again,
Chance

If they're Rice/SKS, they'll have the "SKS" logo in the bottom corner.

Thanks Steve-O!

Yup, they have their little logo on the bottom. Overall, they are in great shape for their age, not mint but very good.

Thanks Steve...hey, call me sometime.

Hello Chance,

If you are interesting in the current selling prices and availability of my Dad's (Harold Rice)original silks, you can visit the Silk King Studios website at http://www.silkkingmagic.com.
