Hi Tom
I have been impressed over the years how you keep returning to certain plots in card magic, specifically Hamman's "The Signed Card" and "Time Operator". I was hoping Vortex would have a compilation of them, but since it doesn't, I thought I'd ask it here. What is it that draws you to these plots? Are these still effects you perform, with new methods, or have you moved onto other crative pursuits? Thanks again for your time here! Matt |

As mentioned in another post, I accidentally gave Stephen Minch twice as much material than what would fit in one book. Among it was a chapter with about eleven versions and ideas for the Signed Card plot.
I'm not sure, but I guess that if "Vortex" is well received, Stephen might consider to publish one more book with my stuff. I don't know why I'm drawn to this particular plot. It's a mystery to me. But the original doesn't 'play' properly, and I have this nagging feeling that it's just a matter of adjusting some little thing, and then it will 'play' like a masterpiece. But I can't 'see' what that little thing is... it's like a shadow among shadows, a vague shape, like a word you can't find even though it is at the tip of the tounge - and it drives me nuts that I can't figure it out! I think that is why I can't let it go - it feels like a solution is close, just barely out of reach. I'm still working on it. |
