What passes for science reporting is getting more and more ridiculous these days. "Right now (!!!) hackers are targetting your brain! We don't even have software that can stop it, this hacking technology is so new! Panic! You're doomed! Aaaa!"

It's that whole "fear" thing, that your media loves to whack you over the head with.
I happened to catch the opening minutes of some U.S. t.v. news report the other day, what was it, oh yeah, actually it was this show "Dr. Oz" that my Mom had on at her house. It was probably a summer repeat. Anyway, this afternoon show was about anthrax, botulism, the bubonic plague, and how America is a sitting duck for this kind of biological attack. Like, probably even as soon as TOMORROW! As you said, "Panic! You're doomed! Aaaa!"

It is not our news that promotes fear it is those idiots at FOX, who never let facts get in the way of a headline.

There is money to be made by people watching. The news wouldn't report it if the people weren't watching it...
The last thing you ever expected, should have been the first.

...and people wouldn't watch unless the promos were filled with "Is your brain being hacked? Is your family about to die from the botulism epidemic? Tune in at 7:00"...
