Should I get Tommy Wonder's books of Wonder or his Dvd set Visions of Wonder? I know there are three dvds, but are there three books? I could only find two books. Do most of the effects require gimmicks that you have to go buy? Thanks!

That is a tough call - while the books are excellent (there are only two of them), I don't think you could realize how brilliant these routines are without actually seeing them performed. To watch him in action is inspirational - no wasted actions, perfect choreography, and the effects are stunning. This is one of the rare cases where I would say get the dvd's - and then you will probably want to save your money for the books.

The effects in the books and dvds are both the same right? Also, I have seen him perform every one of these routines on youtube and I was astounded! I think Tommy Wonder is one of the best performers of all time. I'd love any extra input! Thanks!

On all the websites I looked at the dvds were 100 dollars. After a little searching, I found all three dvds on ebay for only $51! I bought them right away and I can't wait for them to get here. Thanks!

The books are also a great buy. The essays in there are great, as well as the tricks. Some of the tricks in the DVDs do cross over to the books, however there is a ton more content in the books which is not on the DVDs.

Get the book set and DVD set all if you can. They are some of the best investment you will ever have in magic. The late Tommy Wonder's material (especially his essays) can make you a better magician. Period.
Still remembered his live perfomance back in 2004...

The books provide more detail for each of the routines. This is very helpful for the routines that require you to construct some type of prop.

Hello,
Very few, if any, will dare to build the complex props or even just perform some of the refined Tommy WONDER's routines. And that is the landmark of a great master magician. I've never watched a DVD showing real magic, real work on magic I mean, but T.WONDER's ones. Most DVD about magic are just NEW products to be sold to wanna be magicians hobbyists, offer mostly poor performances (I mean peformances who would make laugh at any serious stage director or acting teacher, but wich are "great" only in the magic market) ; and even when the performances are less bad, the explanations never lift from the "put your finger here and there..." reassuring level, not one REAL word about what does REAL magic (obviously in most DVD the so called performer just exposes material wich is not his own, or with so little variations from old material, that he can't have the ground reflexion about it ; and if by any chance the material it's his own, it's most for the time highly impratical, just a DVD with Youtube trailer for the next Blaine/Angel). T.WONDER (and M.MAVEN) talks about magic, actual magic. Ans this is not easy stuff. That's why the only DVD about magic to my knowledge ever produced are the T.WONDER's. The books are classic magic books along with ASCANIO's, NELMS' or ORTIZ'.
Cordially,
