Probably been covered here and there...but what do you find is the best either effect or performance piece that you use to draw your crowd?

Ask how old a kid is. Invariably the kid will look at their parent. Why, I don't know. But the parent will prod the child. The child will respond in a voice too quiet for you to hear. You move closer with your finger held to your ear. The parent WILL ALWAYS respond and tell you the child's age. Mishear and/or ignore and move closer into the child. That kid will now practically shout their age.
Stand up and go, "Holy ****, where did you all come from?" Works each and every time, guaranteed. |

Eventually someone will cheer and clap, sarcastically of course since there is no crowd. Usually, it is "dad". And he just took the bait ... by participating in my show, he just gave his kids permission to watch my magic show. So now when I say "come on over, I'll show you a magic trick" the kids coming running without even looking to dad first. Hook line and sinker, it works every time. -JoeJoe
