I have been looking around at many topics here about portable PA systems and still not decided, it will be mainly for trade shows, I think it is between
Happie amp 2.0 MIPRO MA 101a Florida Magic PAS-787 which would better for trade shows or would you recommend a different one. Thanks |

I knew the consenses on the Florida Magic PAS-787 would not be much here. TMORP is probably wrong with his opinion of the Happie amp. Do a search on this product here on the Café and you will find a thread on it. I don't own one myself, but those that do own it, have wonderful thinks to say about it.

For the Mipro I noticed there is a frequency 6a, 6b, and 6c what is the difference if any between them.

Hood -- You might also want to look at the Anchor 1000, which is a true 50-watt PA speaker. The only downside (maybe) is that you'll have to buy a separate receiver and transmitter of your choice.
You can also check out the Anchor 130, which is a smaller 30-watt system, but has the wireless receiver built-in. I have not used the Anchor 1000, but I have seen the 130, which seems to be pretty well built and durable. Both are made to take a speaker stand, which would seem like a good idea for trade shows, to get the sound up to "ear level." Neither Anchor unit has a battery back-up like the Happie Amp, but if you're just using it for trade shows, I guess you wouldn't need that feature anyway. The Happie Amp is rated at 50 watts "peak" power, but is actually a 30-watt RMS unit, like the Anchor 130. The Happie Amp is also about 1/3 the cost of an Anchor 130. Never owned a Happie Amp and so don't know about its durabiilty. Folks here at the Café seem to think it's pretty reliable, though, and a good value for the money. Not having done any trade shows, I can't say whether 30 watts will be sufficient for you. Some say that one watt per person is a good rule of thumb, but that's just an average and depends greatly on the room acoustics, background noise and other factors. It's easy to say "Buy just a little more power than you think you'll actually need, but don't overbuy and waste money," but it's not so easy to do that in actual practice. Both Anchor units have 15 selectable wireless frequencies, which might also be a good feature for trade shows (to avoid interference from other wireless PA systems). The Mipros have three different frequencies (a, b & c), but you only get one choice when ordering the unit and it's not changeable on the fly later. I think the Happie Amp comes with two different built-in frequencies, but uses an older transmission method (VHF instead of UHF?), which may not matter much. SETH

The professional Trade Show magicians I know have the company provide the sound system if that is required. Many trade shows do not permit sound systems to bother other displaying clients.
I am speaking of real industrial trade shows, not your local Home Show or Garden Show that is only a local event in your community. |

I have an Anchor 130, it's a really high quality little speaker. It puts out a large amount of clean sound for its size. One note - if you want to use music and voice at the same time through the speaker, this isn't the choice. It doesn't have individual volume controls which would allow you to mix the sound levels. One or the other is fine.

I think that the anchor 130 is a better choice for me, seems like it will do the job just fine. Thanks for the recommendation.

WANDBOY, Just to let you know I did purchase a Happie AMP and I promptly shipped it back as it was even worse than the Florida PAS System.
