Wow. Gaffed coin? Fooled me. I didn't think that the coin was gaffed--and that left me with only one other gaffed explanation. (grin) Now, I'm back to square one.

Charming Chinese Challenge is a "category killer", modular, examinable, no reset, great reaction. On the other hand it covers ring on string and Chinese coins in one trick so other tricks with similar themes or props will seem repetitive. I have always like ring and string stuff but it does not "kill for me" with lay people, this does. Substitute the "toss on" move (all on the DVD) in the 3rd phase and it's a draw dropper.

For the Charming Chinese Challenge, can a white magicians rope be used instead of string. I have seen a clip with a rope and coin penetration but cant remember where? magicwalsh@gmail.com

Consider buying Troy's book, DesTroyers. It has CCC, and many other effects, some that can be combined with CCC.

The version of Chinese Challenge I learned doesn't use a gaff.

I had an effect about 10-12 years ago called escape from alcatraz. I had it made through Sasco and used 3 coins 2 were half dollars and on was a houdini coin. all had a small hole in the center. you would thread each one of the coins on to the thread. and have a spectator hold the string.
you reach inbetween the halves and pul out the houdini coin. completely examinable. Not sure they sell it any more?

Fans of this effect and Hooser's CCC should definitely check out "Recharmed" by Lance Pierce. Killer variation that comes with all of the props...including better and bigger "Chinese" coins.
