Adrian, moves are very interesting, but not being in the context of a routine or act, they are very meaningless. When a performer is out on a stage, they cannot edit obtaining the props and getting them into position in their hands.
All that editing before and after, does not show how in a real performing situtition they would look or be used by anyone. Magic performance is more then some moves. Much of your finger flinging is very good looking, but I cannot comment on something that is not complete. |

It is for the performer to use these 'moves' in the context of his/her own routine.

But not knowing that they actually can be used in the context of their routine would be something good to know. Moves for the sake of moves is still worthless, if you cannot get into and out of the moves easily.

Dai Vernon used to show Cardini “moves” with cards and other objects. Cardini would then say to Vernon “that’s great but how do you get into it?!?” Vernon would get frustrated because there was no good way to get into or out of the move he was showing off. The lesson is clear; a move by itself has no meaning or utility what so ever.

Thank you very much for all your valuable comments. Actually this is the demo video of my coming tutorial DVD on CD manipulation. Sorry that I haven't put my whole act here, but in my DVD I'll certainly share with you some of my own ways on how to steal the CDs from somewhere and get them into the starting position. For those already got my last CD manipulation DVD "Laser Anywhere Vol. 1 & 2" released in 2006 may have already known the basic method of CD body steal.
Anyway, thanks for putting your precious time on writing me these comments to me and they are of great help. All the best, Adrian |

Adrian, we discussed your previous DVDs on CD manipulation on the following threads:
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=10 http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=10 We like the moves. But it will be better if you put together a couple of DVDs teaching full routines. |

I agree, you don't need a complete ACT, but showing a complete routine on an item would be much more beneficial for the purchaser to make a decision if this is of interest.
A trick must have a beginning a middle and an end, otherwise it is not a magic trick, but just a move. An example, the famous magician Levent discribe an excellent card production in a book 30 or so years ago. He recently published a DVD of his material, and finally I found out how he got into the position for the card production. Thirty or so years is a long time to wait for the practical information for use of this production. He invented it, therefore he has the responsibility to offer something complete. There is another mentalist claiming a card production as his method on a video. Again, he shows and discribes the move very well, but no clue or discription how to get into that hand position to execute the production. So it is worthless, without the added imformation. |

This is just itching for someone to do so. Hey, if someone out there feels that everything has already been done and is looking for a new look, now's your chance to be that someone. (Hint: watch Dianne Zimmerman's record act to get some ideas). |

Received a 5 pack of Laser Anywhere Manipulation Cd's today from the Magic Warehouse site. It looks like the have taken the 15 carton of Cd's and split them up into packs of 5 and selling them for $12.00. It just so happens John T. Sheets Compact Disc Manipulation Manual only requires 5 Cd's for his routine. Workout very well.
The Cd's are very thin and properly prepared as John T. Sheets suggests as well as other CD manipulators suggest for visual aid of Cd's on stage. So I can jump right into learning the routine without trying to make adjustments to the Cd's. No one and Laser Anywhere company have mentioned if the Cd's are altered in any way for magic purposes. I thought I would mention that they are and are ready for use out of the plastic bag resealed by Magic Warehouse. These are the standard size Cd's I am referring to, not the mini or Jumbo. If you only want a few Manipulation Cd's this seems like a good deal, I would recommend these Cd's to anyone over trying to use real Cd's for the magic experience. |
