I'm a big fan of Steve's Vectra thread. It's very strong ( it can levitate a full pack of cards and..as Steve proves on the DVD, even a hamster ) and it's very difficult to see. You'd have to really look for it when you're hooked up. GET THIS DVD! It's only $19.95 and you get the DVD filmed in HD plus a sample of Vectra Super Strong Invisible Line and a sample of Fearson’s Master Wax, which I think is the best wax I've ever used. You'll also receive a DVD quality download, so you can watch it after you order. Steve goes over lighting theory for thread work and he gives his advice on how to make any levitation you perform look as real as possible ( you know, so that it doesn't look look like you're using thread to float something ). Steve teaches PK effects as well as levitations. The floating apple is KILLER And thanks to a subtlety from Steve's gifted 5 year old daughter, it looks even better. Steve teaches his famous hookup as well. http://www.emagicsupply.com/index.php?ma......ts_id=94 Here's what is on the DVD The Stripping Secret The Full Deck Demo The Floating Apple Floating Soda Alternate Hookup Floating Robot Flying Bug Spinning Floating Top Floating Quarter The Mouse Trap Moving Bottle Spirit Fork Electronic Floating Cigarette Also, Master thread worker Ron Jaxon is into Vectra. "When it comes to strong invisible thread there's always been a juggle between strength and invisibility. As a general rule the stronger it is the more visible the thread becomes. Steve Fearson's Vectra line defies that rule by being just as invisible as any of the more commonly used invisible threads. Yet it's so much stronger. Not only is it allowing me to be more confident that it won't break during a performance, it's also allowing me to do a wider range of effects with heavier objects." Ron Jaxon

The Vectra thread is excellent. I have his DVD and have not had a chance to watch it yet. Without it I have not been able to float a deck of cards. Better study a bit more. I did purchase from James George three Titan Reels, which have the Vectra thread. That will be awesome.

I disagree with the claim that the Vectraline can support the weight of a deck of cards (around 85-90 grams), as is shown in the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDm9TlUIjb8 I ordered some directly from the website, and did some tests using a 2 foot strand. Thread breaks at around 55-60 grams. Has anyone done the deck levitation? |
