Eric,
Thanks for bringing your insight to this board. I have a comment, then a question for you. I can remember two different moves/tricks I’ve seen lately which made me jump out of my chair: one was when Joshua Jay performed Ed Marlo’s “Outjogged Oil and Water” in his “Talk About Tricks” DVD; the other would be when I saw your "Ishkabibble Sandwich" performance on Theory 11 website. Most sandwich routines are essentially different ways of presenting the same effect, and I thought there would never be a need for me to learn another sandwich trick until I saw your version. I can’t imagine anyone coming up with a more visual effect for this plot. Truly remarkable thinking on your part. And a question for you: can you discuss how much practice time you put in, specifically for your coin work? I, like probably many others here, find coin work a little more frustrating to get down than card moves and would like to hear from an expert. Thanks John

John,
I'm no expert, but I'm sincerly glad you have enjoyed the sandwich routine. I REALLY hope your audiences have enjoyed it as much as you have. When it comes to practice, I personally practice 3-4 hours a day. I'm able to practice and rehears a lot more now that I'm doing magic full time. When I got into magic 10 years ago, I focused on nothing but coin magic for the first 6 years of that time. I devoted every waking moment to laborous practice and rehearsal. I dedicated myself to the Curtis Kam school of thought. Kam taught me in Palms of Steel Vol. 1 that me that if a certain amount of moves accomplishes the desired effect the best way possible, you learn the moves regardless of difficulty. I prescribe to that advise to this day. While this may not be the best method of practice for some, it has been highly successful for me.....
