He is only the second person in the 108 year history of the organization to receive the prestigious Gold Medal of Excellence for Close Up Magic. He has had four successful runs in New York City of his one-man shows, Eric DeCamps an Evening of Intimate Magic and Pure Magic – A Performance of Contemporary Conjuring. Every one of his performances are filled with compelling stories and visual artistry. Audiences have described him as debonair, engaging, enchanting and mystifying. Mr. DeCamps served his apprenticeship at New York’s Magic Towne House. Later he performed regularly at the celebrated Greenwich Village nightclub, Mostly Magic, for more than 12 years. In recent years, he has performed throughout the United States, Europe, Japan, and South America at exclusive society events. Fortune 500 companies like Time Warner, General Motors, JP Morgan Chase, Google, American Express and many others have engaged Mr.DeCamps to entertain their most valued clients. In his lecture, Mr. DeCamps focuses on the fine art of sleight of hand exploring timeless examples such as the cups and balls, cigars and purse, productions and vanishes of silver dollars, rope magic, the Okito Box and that classic con…the shell game. In his hands ordinary objects become extraordinary and in his lecture he will share those secrets with you! The lecture will not only provoke your sense for wonder and mystery, it will give you a new appreciation for this wonderful art form. Here is what the experts and press have to say about Eric DeCamps: "I’ve known Eric DeCamps for a very long time. Since day one I’ve been greatly impressed with his sleight of hand skill and his dedication to the art. Years ago when Eric would see something that he wanted to learn he would use any means at his disposal to get the technique and then practice it relentlessly until it was flawless. Time and time again Eric would set his sights on some nearly impossible sleight and then quickly perfect it. Eric has now become a great performer and with his arsenal of other skills he has entered that rarefied world inhabited only by artists."--William Kalush, Conjuring Arts Executive Director & TV/Film Magic Consultant. “Eric DeCamps was a ‘stand out’ lecturer our 2010 Texas Association of Magicians convention this past September. Eric lectured in a theater full of magicians who were enthralled with his charisma and charm. He engaged the entire audience from the stage as if he was talking with each of us individually. Eric’s routines, ideas, tips and real-life stories were thought out in meticulous detail. His coin routines and the two-cup routine are brilliant…Attending his lecture is an opportunity to learn from a master, the Dean of the New York City’s S.A.M. Assembly #1. If you miss Eric DeCamps lecture, it will be your loss.”--Scott Wells, A.I.M.C. with Silver Star/Past President of the T.A.O.M. “Eric DeCamps is a gentleman who can casually cause the impossible to happen and happen often. Visitors to the Big Apple are fortunate to have one of the finest practitioners of the art of magic in a public setting.”--Tom Gaudette, M-U-M Magazine.
