I was at the Virginia State Fair yesterday and there was a man selling splat balls.
I say selling because he had no pitch. He was just standing there throwing them against a dry erase board then picking them up and saying "Get your splat balls here". He had no pitch. And while I was there he had no tip. |

A product has to do something before you can make a pitch for it.Splat balls do dothing except what the name says...SPLAT.

A simple toy like the splat-ball is hard to pitch.
Pitching is never about selling the product. It's about selling the fantasy of what the product can do for the customer. Remember the old funny-book ads? "Learn to throw your voice... fool your friends... fun at parties!" |

"Pitching is never about selling the product."
I thought pitching was about GTFM? |

I have to jump in here.Cholly,by golly has been in this section for a long time and hes a really great guy and has posted a lot of good input about pitching but this time hes contradicting himself.First off Cholly said:
" Pitching is never about selling the product" Than the very next statement he said: "It's about selling the fantasy of what the product can do for the customer" Well the second statement is very true.A pitch is structured to convence a potential customer that the product will make there life easer or maybe fun ( as is the case with Svengali deck) So why do we as pitchman want to convence "marks" this...its to SELL THE PRODUCT and GTFM ! that's the bottom line...period ! Love ya Cholly... Later,Don |
