Looks nice!
My concern with a participant holding a bell when it starts to ring is dropping,or them throwing it! Someone could be hurt! Anyone, using a bell in specs hand, may want to chime in and let us know, how this works in the real world? ~G I kind of fav my 'Departed'!

Well, I know what I'm saving my money for next.
I would look at allowing one of your sitters to hold it as optional. You could easily have it tied to a string and hang it from something instead. But with proper management I doubt anyone would throw a "rare antique". (Provided you can age it) If you had a nice presentation box, with a soft pillow inside, you could have them hold the bell just a few inches over the padded interior. Just in case they get startled and drop it. |

Or perhaps an old piece of twine with a loop for the sitters wrist.
So, they can't drop it to the floor... Still thinking. |

I can figure about several ways so that it can't drop.
For example the other end of the string could be tied around the spectator's wrist. Have a look at the attached picture. Cesar Alonso (Cesaral Magic) Click here to view attached image. |

In the case of a spectator holding the bell, are they likely to detect the mechanism (or even that there IS a mechanism) driving the effect? Vibration, humming etc?
It looks like a great effect. Doug |

The spectator will hear a real bell sound. A loud one coming from the bell. He will feel as if an invisible hand (a spirit force) would move the bell's handle. There is no vibration, but more like a natural movement. It is difficlt to explain...
You can have a look at this real performance (even though it is a comedy performace) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdhbzctnWiA You will be pleased with the method and the spectators feelings. I hope it helps Cesar Alonso (Cesaral Magic) |

Hobbs Box is a completely natural sounding bell. Crisp and clear.

It is also simple to have participant put together the Hobb;s bell!
That will give them contact before the bell ever rings, out of performer hands,at all times! I really like The Departed, has a great back story, and also is a 'Sucker' effect!

A short experience I had with the Hobbs Box:
The day I finally had time to get around and buy my batterries for it, I was quite filled with suspense. There is always a nagging feeling in the back of your mind that something can go wrong I suppose. I popped in the batteries. easy enough. set up the box and bell, and then used my t*e sw*tc*. Nothing. oops maybe I forgot to take off the the control ma*n*t behind. No, it has been removed. Hmm, *hits sw*t*h with slightly more pressure this time. My goodness, the bell rang. and moved visibly. ok, maybe you might call me dumb, but standing 10 feet away and seeing the bell simply ring and move all on its own, was just a magical moment in itself. perhpas this may be simply cause its my first time dealing with such an item. but still, it was powerful. I smiled silently to myself, wondering how much more my audience would react to such a moment (with correct build up of atmosphere of course) I love my hobbs box, couldn't be happier with it. I also have the flashpot box accessory, and it works just as stated. |

Recently aquired the Cesaral Spirit bell for use in a lie detector routine. I particularly needed a bell that would be heard by large audiences so this was the reason I chose Cesaral's Bell. This is a very impressive piece of kit. Very LOUD and lots of different options for how to trigger the ring - short, long (unlimited) timer delayed, and delayed sequences. Does not come with a t** s***** standard however instructions show how to install one or Cesar can do this for you if you wish. It is also re*******ble so very convenient. Great option for stage performers who want a highly audible bell. I will deinfitely be tying it to the specs wrist as I imagine the reactions will possibly cause someone to drop this so best to be safe.
