Hey gang -
As you probably have assumed, I am a GigMasters member @ http://www.GigMasters.com. I recently came across another performer's Gigmasters profile. I was reading through his feedback. It was very interesting to me with the technique he used. Whenever a client would leave feedback for the event he performed at, he would also use the GigMasters' rebuttal system to thank them for having him and he then touched base on how the bride and groom are trying to book him for their anniversary, etc. Or how awards banquet went superbly and he looks forward to working with the new clients he made, etc. It was nothing "too" confident, but also looked very professional. Basically, his thank you email/letter/postcard was the GigMasters' rebuttal system. And he did this with every customer review he received. I think this is interesting because prospective clients will read all that and get a better understanding to how the event went. More importantly, this guy had fantastic reviews the whole way down. What do you guys think about this? Do you think it is beneficial? Even though the header of the performer's rebuttal is labeled as "Performer Rebuttal:"? There has only been one member I've seen use this technique. Maybe some of you may have seen this employed on other profiles. Your 2 cents are much appreciated. Thanks in advance guys! -E |

Darn good marketing tool. Makes him and the customer look good and gives anybody looking to book him more reasons to call him.

Sounds like gigmasters needs to improve their feedback system so its more like ebay where both the seller and the buyer have an opportunity to leave feedback (and also comment on feedback).

Good idea, but what about just letting the clients comments shine! Allow them make you the star!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember, other people remarks are better sellers of your act than your regards to your own show! Just my two cents

I am still new to all this but have been bidding on GM leads I receive. Lately I have not been putting in a $$$ quote because I know they are looking at the two bit performers just to fill a square. I feel I can have more time to come up with a pitch over the phone.
What I do not understand it why its important to have star ratings if 10 performers get the same lead you receive? I mean they will check out your website anyway.

Hi - I'm on Gm also. Ya, I agree the stars are like a report card you don't need. My problem is that people are never home when I call, and I don't want to spam them. Many people don't read their emails often either. I think one's web page is the biggest seller. My page needs a lot of work, but if you can reach the client right away, you have a better chance of getting the gig. I think GM is best as a face painter's vehicle. Most leads I get want a face painter. I try with some success to talk them into a magician instead.

Thanks for post Duane. Im bidding away on GM but so far, nothing. It does give me another advert on google, I have 6 websites and pretty high already on the search engines. Some of the biggest names are on there with $5000 bids so if it could land anything close it would be worth it. I defintely is a very professional product if nothing else.
I have been leaving a voice mail with hopes of a bug in their ear. A good pitch is the only way to get a show paying more then beans and rice IMO.
