Ok now I'm not going to go around posting about every time I busk but I have to share this with you. So at first I was not gaining a crowd. Not at all, I would get a few people to watch but nothing great. So I meet another busker, a juggler in fact. He said that he got kicked out of the farmers market area but I would probably be okay because I was kind of out of the farmers market. He's explaining to me about how all the little tiny things will change the whole aspect of the crowd. The color of your shoes, your hat, people around you. He told me that I might get a better crowd if I moved over about fifteen feet just in a little bit of a different spot. I did. Within moments of messing with things, people started to show up and stop and watch and I actually did a show. I seriously moved like fifteen feet! anyway in that one show I made about twenty bucks considering there were about twenty people I think that was great! Anyway the other performer asked me if I would be there next week and we could take turns doing a show at that spot. Success!

That guy gave you some great advice. It really is a trip how even a small change can dramatically change a street performance.
You should come to san francisco some time. I see you're not too far away...

I'm starting to get so used to Facebook I tried to click "like" on the post. Well, it didn't work so I do it here instead.

Also great to hear about fellow buskers helping each other out.

Ya, It was weird considering I didn't move very far and the crowd just rolled in after I moved.

That's busking. Fri nite was a total ZERO. Same spot, same show tonight and made $150 in the first hour. The difference? Who knows.

Mitchell,
Great to hear you are doing better.Stay with the other busker as long as you can. You'll learn lots of stuff(like you already did by moving just 15 feet) and you will be much saver. You said"Ok now I'm not going to go around posting about every time I busk" I think its great if you could post after every show and let us know how you are improving. So don't think nobody reads this or thinks its boring...its not. Keep up the good work. Later,Don |

In the park, I usually work under a tree by a path people have to walk through. OK, but not great. I moved about twenty feet over to the (now burned out) hot dog stand and it was a world of difference.

Mitchell,
What do YOU think made the difference? Why did moving that little change everything? |
