My wonderful 10 year old Beagle/Basset mix: http://images.craigslist.org/3k03o93p55O......1873.jpg
got out this afternoon, I was looking for him from 4pm until 8pm and I only stopped because my girls were getting to cold in the stroller. My wife came home early from work and was looking until 9, with no intention of sleeping until we found him. Then we got a call. A woman in a completely different city, who did not know us or find our dog had taken it upon her self first to search craigslist for lost dogs and then to search other internet databases to find them. This woman is a good person. As a fan of general semantics I don't usually care for such statements, but it's true eshe's a good person and I have a restored faith in humanity.

So you found the pup? He looks like my first dog Muggs. I have a Bassett Hound and if she or any of my dogs got out I wouldn't stop looking the same as you.

Great story! I love happy endings!
I'm glad you got your pup back as it's obvious in your post - he's important to your family. That woman deserves the accolades. C |

Well, I'm 99.5% sure that we have him. There is post at PetHarbor.com that a 10 yr. old tri color beagle/basset was found in Berkeley this afternoon.
We can't call or pick him up until 10am tomorrow morning, so we'll have to wait and see, but I think the chances are pretty slim that it could be another dog.

Ah I should correct my post to: I'm glad you'll be getting your pup back. The waiting for your family must seem like an enternity until you can call in the morning to confirm that's your boy.
Best Wishes. |

This lady is obviously a crook who travels around stealing dogs and handing them back to the owners expecting a reward. Which explains how the dog got to another city and why she did what she did. You suckers.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Got him back. Yay
The experience at the pound was pretty negative, but in the long run they kept him safe and they're not there to make us happy; I'm sure they deal with pretty bad stuff a lot. I'm keeping my restored faith in humanity and giving Freeto (that's his name) some special treats! Tommy, ha lol. He actually was in the same city he was lost, she just did searches for him out of her own kindness. But it was a good theory.

I'm happy for both you and Freeto!
Several years ago I left my best dog Roxy at home over night on the 2nd of July and unbeknown to me she was FREAKED by whistling pete fireworks. After a failed attempt to chew her way into the house and garage she jumped my 6 foot fence (the neighbor witnessed it) and ran off! She was lost for 4 days during a horribly hot period and I was a WRECK! I spent every waking, non working hour driving around, putting up flyers, checking and rechecking SPCA, Pound, local Vet hospitals etc. and was losing beginning to lose hope! I was working 2 hours South of town when I got 2 messages on my cell... one from someone who spotted her and the 2nd from my wife (whom the spotter called after me) saying she was home! I made it home in just under 1.5 hours to find her dehydrated, scared and hungry but otherwise ok! She has not left my side since (7 years)! She is with me 24/7 work, play, sleep whatever! The one and ONLY time I have left her with anyone other than my wife was our 25th anniversary and I paid my son to stay at our house and keep her with him while we were gone! I have never been as attached to a dog as I am Roxy so I totally get the anguish you must have gone through and I'm stoked that it was a happy ending! |
