On recent flights, I have looked in the Skymall magazine and seen the wallets made with stainless steel thread. Advertised as sturdy and practical and thin.
I'm fascinated - has anyone ever used one? As good as advertised? The ones in the mag are made by Hammacher Schlemmerer (or something like that ) I've been to the big auction site, and it appears that there are also some less expensive/ripoff (?) versions available as well.

I think they only retail the wallet, not manufacture it. Guess you mean this one:

Sounds like a good device..until you get your card stuck in it. Also, how comfortable can sitting on a piece of stainless steel be?
Almost the past 40 years, rubberband..and I'll use it till the day I die. If anyone plays poker, it is a HUGE tell on what people keep their money in. What I do? crumple up your hundreds singlely each in their own ball in your pocket and stumble up to the poker table, people think your a drunk with money to burn and there will be action galore. Also, I love the hustle of working girls - when they see you have money crumpled up, they assume you don't have much to spend. HH |

A wallet with stainless steel thread may end up with an TSA agent giving you his rendition of the Cup and Balls...
