Would you guys remind me of the various D'lites effects/accessories? I know there is a paper bag which you can "throw" the lights into, and the lights are seen cascading down. But, I seem to remember there are some other effects designed to be used with D'lites. Anyone?
Thanks, Doug |

I've just found "Fire Ears" at Magic Box:
http://www.magicbox.uk.com/fire-ears.html does anyone have any experience with these? Though they look very nice, and the effect would be awesome, I'm not sure about the set-up. thanks, Doug |

You already mentioned the paper bag you drop the light in, but there is a very good version.
http://www.mymagicsupply.com/servlet/the......X/Detail It has different settings including holding the bag, infrared sensor, and a timed light. You don't have to be near the bag for the lights to fall in. Having seen it in person, it is a nice effect.

I combined the lighted ears and the pro-X with D'lites and it played so well,it's a permanent part of my repertoire now.
I used the above with visible painting and you can get lots of milage outta it.

The original version of the "lights to bag" was actually from Kerry Pollack & Wireless Wizardry, it's called "D'Mug":
http://www.theceswebsite.com/products/props/dmug.html It's the absolute best. Not only do you produce the lights and place them into it, you POUR them out (into whatever other container you want, or "drink" them). Also, Stevens Magic has this: http://www.stevensmagic.com/index.php?ma......_id=1965 Ideally, you'd produce the lights via a D'Lite, drop them into the mug, until you have 9 in there, then pour them into the bag, showing the mug empty. Take the bag, and with a flip, it changes to the huge foulard covered with lights..TA-DAA! Finale! That being said, I have both of these items, like new. Anybody interested in a less than 1/2 price deal? Steve |

Thanks guys, some very nice items there...I have to say though, rather too pricey for the routine I have in mind...even at half price!

This is simple yet effective for walk around anyway. I perform a lot at restaurants. I always have a scrolling name tag (red color) that I use when strolling. It says something like," Welcome to (restaurant name) I am the amazing Mr. Magic" I ask the kids if they have seen my name tag. I then proceed to "remove" some of the lights ala D'lite from the name tag. I also then remove lights from their ears etc. I can't tell you how many kids try to take the lights off that name tag. It is really funny to watch. This may not be your "cup of tea" but it works for me.

I've seen the fire ears. Theyre crap. Against the laws of science, they both suck AND blow! I use the D'Lites constantly in my table-hopping venue and they KILL. Only about 10% of the kids have seen them before or owned a pair. I use them to take the blinking red lights out of kid's shoes, and theyre greta for getting babies to stop crying. I agree that the 'miser's dream' d'lite bag is too expensive for the effect it does.
Now, if youre planning to do this shtick at a birthday party (being who you are & all...) the best thing I've found is to get those glow-ice-cubes, and after the routine give one to the birthday child as a special present. You could also do a routine in which you 'drop' the light into a pail, and one by one kids try to remove it afterward. After 3 failures, the BDC is invited to try, and this time of course you load the glo-cube. The BDC will feel cool & empowered, and if it's an under-6 child, he / she will walk away thinking they clutch a magical treasure.
Everybody wants to beleive.....we just help them along.

I start my show out with introducing myself and a laser pointer is shined at my face....me noticeing that I tell the audience to please refrain from using laser lights during the show...Then it shines again towards my eye and I reach up show my hand empty and grab the "laser" with my delight to start out my delight routine

JAM MAGIC first introduced the Miser's Delight which was the brown paper bag version that was ripped of under the name Bag O Lites.
General consensus says the Bag O Lites was junk and if you want that effect go with The original Miser's Delight from JAM MAGIC. They later introduced the Miser's Delight ProX which was the elite version with all the bells and whistles of infra red triggering where the hand does not have to touch the bag or manual or even an adjustable timed sequence. They even offer a remote control version that can be operated while the performer throws the lights up to the stage while he is in the audience. They are now releasing a version that has 12 lights in a bag like the ProX (which has 14) but you can throw 2 different colors into the bag, ie, red and green, blue and red, etc. The quality is still the best manufactured here in the US by an individual who is a top notch electronics engineer. AHem...the "Miser's Delight" was a direct ripoff of the ORIGINAL idea of Kerry Pollack/Wireless Wizardry, called "D'Mug". I've owned my D'Mug for almost 20 years. It's more well-made and offers the climax of the lights "pouring out" after the production of the lights. When inverted, the lights go out in reverse order, from bottom to top, to simulate the pouring action.

The idea of catching a light and putting it in a "container" cannot be considered an infringement of an effect any more than a zig zag is a ripoff of a sawing in half. In both effects the assistant is cut into pieces and restored. Kerry's mug is a beautiful effect and I have performed with Terry and know him to be a super guy and manufacturer. I will not say anything negative about Terry's mug as it is an exceptional effect with quality engineering and his routine with using a flashlight and laser lights in conjunction with the mug along with the lights on his shirt is a wonderful and as far as I know original routine. That being said, our original lights caught in a bag the Misers delight was another effect of catching lights and throwing them in a BAG. That was not a rip off of Terry's mug anymore than the above mentioned illusions are a rip off of each other. Each stand alone. Then our Miser Delight ProX carried the effect further by allowing the container to not have to be held by the performer. If magic was limited to just one version of an effect then the magic world would be limited to a few dozen tricks able to be performed. Is B'Wave by Max a ripoff of Parade of Kings? No the effects are similar but not exact. Neither are my bags a rip off of Terry's Mug. If someone wants to produce lights in a mug you should buy Terry's (Not the one being offered by Hank Lee)if you want the effect in a bag buy ours. The mechanics along with the performance is different. It's as simple as that.
