Hi. Anyone own Magicsmith's T2x atomic bulb?
I'd appreciate a review, please. |

Looks cool. A little like Scotty York's classic... or Tenyo's new Ghost Lamp but the method appears to be different.

After watching the demo I see this bulb is held in the fingers during the light and unlight phase unlike the Tenyo Scotty York version.
My question is, won't they think you are just hitting a hidden button to turn the light on and off? Looking at this I prefer the hands off the bulb version. |

Although I do not have this (I do own Ghost Lamp)as with all effects there are pros and cons, As stated the big pro to Ghost Lamp is that the spectator has the bulb when it lights up... very cool. The trade off is that there is other items involved. It looks like the T2x would be easier to carry in your pocket and perform impromptu with any deck. Depending on your performing style or conditions these things may matter. The ad suggests that the T2x bulb can be completely examined. At the end of the day either bulb is more of a tool for fun interaction with a spectator versus creating a major mystery. I hope to pick up a T2x to play with.

Seems like it'd be a fun little prop to carry with you to "find" all sorts of things - not just cards.

Hi All,
I have received - This morning - a T2x and will post a review as soon as I have had chance to play! Thanks Andy |

Okey Dokey,
I received my T2x last Friday and managed to wait a whole 24 hours before playing - I looked at the props I had received before this and tried to work the method and then on Saturday morning put my 'idea' into action! (It didn't work!) so I had to resort to watching the CD ROM. NB - you do not receive a DVD with this so you will need a PC to play the disc! With my initial ideas being wrong I thought that I had a broken item so I launched into the disc half heartedly and when the gimmick was explained I must admit to smiling to myself and trying it immediately - it worked! The 'method' is great and is hidden in plain sight and can be whisked away to make the whole thing examinable and this will now reside in my case as a working item - it could be used to divine ANYTHING (there is nothing to find on a card or strapped to your knee etc..) and you have complete control. The only downside is that there doesn't look to be a way of changing the battery/bulb but the design is such that it will last a LONG time anyway. I only paid a small amount for this as I bought it in the ALAKAZAM sale and used points so from my POV it is great value for money. Anyway - I have to head off to work now so I apologise for my brevity - any questions, please ask. Thanks Andy |

More info, please.
I'm assuming (probably wrongly) that this item works like the old incandescent light bulb and is a self-contained "unit". If so, is this either rechargeable or does it use an internal replaceable battery? If neither, how long does the battery last? If this item depends upon a "depletable" non-replaceable energy source, $60.00 would seem to me to be a lot to pay for such a utility item. I like the idea but I'm a little hesitant to buy such a unit without knowing more about it. Thanks for any clarifying info in these regards. (PM me is you deem such clarifying info to not be appropriate to be posted on a public forum.)

Hi Guys,
I have Twilight, which is a similar effect by the same manufacturer. If it's the same general system, it likely has replaceable batteries. The Twilight Levitation effect is pretty cool. Same size as the T2x Atomic Bulb. Great effect Think "Blinkies"... same power source Doug |

I had a lot of fun with this when it came out years ago, then forgot about it. Found it in a drawer, and of course the battery is now dead. So did anyone ever figure out if there is a way to replace the battery? I'm afraid to try twisting it apart, afraid I'll break it...
