Hello Andi,
Buying "52 Memories" had to be one of the best decisions I made this year. I think it is a fantastic book and well written. Needless to say, the effects are strong and practical. I really enjoy learning how a trick has evolved from the work people have done in the past. My question is with regards to crediting research; every trick in "52 Memories" has at the end the credits section with a great deal of information for each. Someday, I hope to write a book or a set of notes; I think the credits section is very important but at the same time I find it quite problematic. I was just curious of how do you manage to do that type of research work? who do you check with? Does it take a great deal of time? |

Hi Martin,
Crediting is the most difficult and time consuming part of my job. I frequently get emails from people asking for credits for their tricks, but I don't think they realise just how long it takes to properly research an effect's history. I wrote a couple of articles for The Clog on crediting. I think it answers most of your questions: http://www.vanishingincmagic.com/clog/po......-is-due/ I hope that helps! --Andi
