Name: The Brain Box
Available from: http://www.facebook.com/#!/SmokeAndMirrorsUK http://smokeandmirrorsuk.wordpress.com/ ... brain-box/ Price: £100 Maker: Smoke and Mirrors UK Examinable: Pretty much. Difficulty: Easy to use, depends what you do with it and how you present it. Out of 10: For this kind of prop, and the price you're getting it for, I can't find fault, so 10/10. Effect The Brain Box is an innocent looking device which can switch cards, billets or anything that will fit into it. Perfect for Q&A routines or psychic style divinations! Comments Smoke and Mirrors are a new UK based company who make bespoke props for the mystery entertainer. Usually a hand made, customised prop will set you back a small fortune, but these wonderful boxes, lovingly crafted by Evie Harris, are in everyone's price range. Firstly, I must comment on the service, and for a brand new company they have got it right where many veterans are getting it wrong. Evie replies to your emails almost instantly, informs you every step of the way on how your personal box is doing (even photos) and sorts out any problem you may have with no hassles whatsoever. A wonderful person to do business with and with that personal touch so many are lacking. Exceptional. And the product itself? Wonderful!! Well written instructions, it does exactly what it is supposed to, looks like something real rather than a tacky prop, is easy to use and is one of those props that gets your brain (box) buzzing with ideas in which it can be used. Getting hand made props like this is hard these days (unless you are willing to give up your back teeth) and how Evie does it as this price, is a miracle in itself. Money well spent as far as I'm concerned! |

Is there a website where the products are easy to see? That Facebook setup is a mess, would take 20 minutes to wade thru it.

Aw shucks lol...
Having never built a website before and being a bit anal I want the site to look just so, hense why we are not officially 'up and running' so to speak with a purty website. don't worry. EVERYONE will know when its finsihed haha but till then its either facebook (which is a public page), the smoke and mirrors uk blog or pm/email x Evie x |

Happy to see it is an interim solution.
May I recommend a wonderful book on website design called "Don't Make Me Think" by Steve Krug. His advice will put money in your pocket. Your customers will love the easy navigation right to where they want to spend their money. There are plenty copies available on ABEBOOKS for $5 each, new on Amazon at $23.

Thanks Tom, ill check that out.
Although I have to admit website isn't my strong point, so have hired a proper (not a mate of a mate of a mate) to do it for me. Saves time and money in the long run. Evie x |

These look beautiful but I wonder: is there a reason to own both a Brain Box and a Benedict Box? Is there a difference in the effect/result between these two items?

Hi Gianni I answered this in Pennies for you.
But there are subtle differences to achieve the same end result. Some people have purchased both, most choose one or other and theres no clear winner. Email me if you want to discuss in depth. Harris@SmokeandMirrorsuk.co.uk E x |

Just to say - I send money to Evie at Smoke and Mirrors on the 5th August 2012,
and have had four or five emails - vaguely telling me to be patient, until last May when I finally gave up and asked for my money back. To which I had an apology - and the assurance a refund would come "in about a week". Needless to say it hasn't. I don't know how much longer I can remain civil. What do I do? What recourse does one take. Please advise. Or - even better, if you know anyone that knows Evie, or any affiliate of "Smoke and Mirrors". - tell them they owe money to a very upset customer; who waited, and waited and waited. However which way you wrap this up - it ain't good service. |
