Hello,
I'm a member of IBM Ring 244 on Long Island, NY. I regret to inform you that Bob Elliott passed away this morning. Bob was a legend and will be missed by all who knew him. Bob's wife Happy is planning a memorial service in California and IBM Ring 244 is planning to have a broken wand ceremony at its meeting on January 6, 2011. http://www.MagicianBobElliott.com |

The location is yet to be determined for Ring 244's Broken Wand Ceremony due to the anticipated large number of people expected to attend.

I know he showed me lots of material was a great positive influence all the time at Tannen's and last time I saw him in PA a few years ago. How many of you did he also offer solid advice and show useful tricks as you were starting out learning? Wasn't he something?
I have him to thank for showing me the Slippery Sam coin transposition and in a way suggesting an approach to the deep backclip recovery - and also some fun with the "epi-tome" location when that came out. How about you? Did you get to meet him? Did he show or teach you something?
...to all the coins I've dropped here

Who else but Bob would name some lecture notes, "I Only Steal from the Best"? His energy will be missed.
And best wishes to Happy. A great couple. |

I am proud to say Bob was a friend and mentor. We did some corporate gigs together as well. He helped my son with his skills.
He taught me a lot. He was one of my sponsors to join the IBM. He introduced me to many magicians over the past 21 years. I could go on and on. When Bob still lived on Long Island, we would see each other at least 10 times a month and sometimes more.

I was one of the MANY campers at the old Tannen Magic Camp who Bob touched deeply. When my ride was delayed by a day at the end of cam one year.. Bob had me to his house to get picked up..and was a gracious guest to myself and my best friend who's parents were delayed.
He used to do a silver dollar production out of a dollar that he made to look SO EASY (now over 25 years later.. I can assure you that it's not.. I STILL don't' do it as "effortlessly" as he did. He did steal from the best.. but that shouldn't in any way degrade his incredible talent, both with performing and with sleight of hand. I talk about him all the time... even after all this time.. and it makes me profoundly sad to hear of his passing. |
