Hey everyone! Excited to get involved here in this online community. I have met a few of you and hope to be able to share some ideas and insights with you all. Just got done attending the FCM convention in Indiana and it rekindled my love of magic. Hope to hear from some of you.

chop dog, Hi and welcome to the Café, I would like to know what type of magic you perform and how long have you been doing magic, enjoy being here.

Arighty then, to answer Richato's questions and shed some light on myself, here we go. My favorite type of magic to perform is close-up. I love being able to be right in people's faces and seeing their reactions as I perform effects for them. I've only been performing for about a year and a half now but have been strongly interested in magic since I was a young boy (around eight or so). I got some sponge balls and a rope effect back then (plus some el-cheapo magic sets) but never really jumped in head first until 2 yrs ago (i'm 23 now). I always loved card tricks and stuff but never really got involved in magic. I'm working on getting into more coin effects and the most advanced forms of card technique nowadays. I'm also working on developing a good kidshow routine since people have been showing strong interest in hiring me for some b-day parties. Oh yeah, I'm not a member of the IBM but I am a member of a local IBM ring. Hope that answers most of your questions and feel free to ask more.

Welcome.
I was at FCM this year, too. What did you think of the evening shows? Anything stand out? |

There were some great acts. Justin Flom looks to be a great up and comer. Andre Kole was absolutely amazing. He also had a magician named Peter Cassford perform a rope effect which was awesome. Peter Cassford also did a mentalism act with Keith Barber on Friday night which was absolutley amazing and hilarious since it had a comedy ending involving a Wal-mart bag, a snorkel, and goggles. Great stuff all around. I also got to meet Peter Cassidy in person one night and that was very cool too. I guess he's got a DVD out called Pass With Care. After talking with him and seeing how he handles the pass in person, it looks like one that I am definitely going to pick up. If anyone knows of a good site to pick it up from let me know. I've seen it on The Magic Warehouse for $25. There were also some good european performers at the FCM as well but unfortunately I can't remember their names. Also anyone out there have any thoughts on Kolossal Killer or Killer Konceptions, I am looking at getting one of those manuscripts as well. Thanks.

Hey, Brent... are you the youth leader Peter and I stayed up talking to in the parking lot that night?
If so, send me a private message and I'll give you my e-mail address. Glad you liked our mentalism act; we were thrilled to be able to do it on the big stage. |

Unfortunately I am not the youth director you stayed up talking to one night. I was back in the corner at the late late show with the blonde curly headed youngster on Tuesday night I believe. We were both leftys. I had some dark rimmed Jay Sankey-esque glasses. You're guys' show was great both nights. One question though, were the goggles supposed to be coughed up so soon on Friday? I wasn't sure on that one there. I would like to know if you guys are ever around in Indiana again because I would definitely look you guys up. Keep up the good work and it's great to keep in touch. Oh yeah, I'm picking up Kolossal Konceptions on your guys' recomendation as well. Thanks.

The timing on the goggles is intentional.
"Does anyone have..." "Here you go!" "...some goggles." What's funny is on the Late Show on Tuesday, the goggle guy was a little late, which made him appear to be "on time" to everyone else! It's to further distance the plants in the audience from the "real" volunteers. Only the "goggles and snorkel people" are plants. The cards are freely selected from an ordinary, unmarked/ungimmicked deck, and neither of us ever see the card. Oh, one more thing: Pete's last name is Cassford (you got it right to start with!). As long as you get my name right though, do whatever you want to his. The jerk puts plastic bags on my head, for goodness' sake! |

Just wanted to say how great this site is. I've Been a member of another site (U.K. or something) for a while now and hardly vist it anymore. The reviews are insightful, members polite, and staff warm and friendly. Keep up the good work. And thanks again for the warm welcome.
