I have some bills that I use in Slowburn. The problem is that the forgien bills I have are somewhat beat up and have creases in the wrong spots. I was told I could Iron the bills, but I am wondering before I put in the effort to dig out the Iron. Does ironing bills get rid of creases? Does it stiffen the bill out like new bill? Is there any way to make an old bill look and feel like a new bill?
Thanks. |

I have ironed a US note before with good results. It does become somewhat crisper. I guess it depends on the quality of the paper the currency is made from. I would try it using a low temperature setting on the iron to avoid any burning or darkening of the paper. You've got nothing to lose.

I have done it many times. For the best results use good old tap water and spray the bills first. then place a hanky over the bill. With the iron on a low setting go to town. If you do it right the bills are crisp like a brand new bill. The one thing to keep in mind is they don't stay that way as long as when they were new. But, I just do a bunch of them at a time and I don't have to worry about it.

You can also have the bills ironed in a dry cleaning shop. They did mine for free.

Ah, thanks for the tips. Crisp bills are best for any bill switch and I am always bugging the bank to get newer bills. Again, thanks for the tips!

I understand that in some parts of Canada, there are mafia groups that will launder money for you, at a price.
Seriously, you can iron most currencies. If they need to be stiffened up, try a little spray starch. Use a steam iron.

If you wnat to give your banknotes a crispy feeling you can bake them in an ventilated heat oven for 5 to 10 minutes at 150 degrees celsius.
It will remove the moist from them and they will feel like new.
