I have The Banquet Magician's Handbook and in it there is a chapter on this lighting system. There is a small photo of it as well. If you have built it, one, how is it working for you and two, could you be so kind to email me a picture or post a picture here? Also, has anyone thought of using a ATA case vs plywood?

Scott Guinn built a similar system utilizing a steel toolbox in place of a plywood box. He was kind enough to send me some photos and tips on making my own set--perhaps you might send him a PM and make a similar request?

I actually built one using (of all things), RubberMaid tubs. I lined the inside with a reflective tMylar insulation, and built a veeeeery cheesey "aiming" mechanism.
I used a laser thermometer to check for safety. After running continuously for 2.5 hours, the internal temp os the box was 78degrees. The bulbs were a blistering +300 degrees. they're not the prettiest, but they work. PM me for details |
