Now that's a good idea...lottery ticket to cash! I like the "IRS" response, too. That's what's so great about money magic -- there's so many ways of varying the effects.

Hi
Mine came today,I can't wait to start working on this effect. I think the gimmick is very clever and well made. hth Ralph

Hi
I found a way to avoid the noise problem. I haven't even showed my wife and daughter yet. Here's my rough idea so far. I was going to show the check and ask "Do you know why you won't be seeing checks used anymore? "Because people like cash" as I do the change. I think asking them the question lets them know that your holding a check. As dduane said it happens so fast they might miss the change. After I do the change I pluck the bills with my free hand, to show that they're real. I hit the side that has the special something. This is a good misdirection for closing the gimmick. I got this idea from Richard Sander's Extreme Burn DVD. I like this effect and I'm not so sure I agree with the bad review it received from " The Wizards Product review site". Only time will tell if I end up using it or not. hth Ralph

You can also "flick" the corner while you do the change, or fan the bills back and forth and let the motion do the work and be the misdirection.
Your choices in life can be compared to watching a magic trick: You can continue to believe the illusion in front of you, find the intrigue and desire to learn more, or quit paying attention the moment you feel deceived.

Can you fold the gimmick prior to performing? I know theres a little prep work, but can it be discreetly taken out of a folded wallet and prepped? Thanks!

I am thinking about buying this and using it as an opener in a parlor show (actually as a prelude to my opening). My plan is to tear out a check from a check book, turn the check into three bills and walk out into the audience and give away two of the bills and retain the gimmick. Does anyone see a problem with this as far as angels and the gimmick itself and can someone address the criticism about the product from the Wizard Product Review? Thanks in advance.

SImplyJustHen: You can fold the bills and gimmick. You don't need to take it descreetly out of anything. You can openly pull out a folded check/cheque/cash,whatever and do your performance.
David Tower: You can do just that. You can open your check book, show your check (or not - it's up to you), tear it out and do what you need. You will of course need to mime a tear, or attach it with a dab of rubber cement. Angles? I have not had a problem. If you think someone is going to be looking over your shoulder, tilt the bills down towards yourself sleightly. Or hold the bills horizontally to the floor which is perfectly natural. Hope this helps!

I think the some of the criticism from WPR are valid. However this should certainly play well in a parlor show as you describe. EventEntertainer has obviously had a lot of success with this so it may depend on the operator but I have found that the gimmick does not "hold tightly" and cannot be handled as freely as I would like. For instance I do not think it is a "durable" or angle proof as an easy money gimmick.

It's not as angle proof as the easy money kind of effects, but I have not had a problem with it. Xcath1 - with practice the gimmick does hold well enough. I have been using it as an opener at my regular restaurant gigs. By adding a little more patter to get the audience engaged, it has a pretty strong effect - similar to extreme burn. I have a routine that allows EB to follow logically. The combination of the 2 effects really wins over the spectator. I have not seen the WPR yet -- I'll check that out. It's one of those effects that gets better with use. I'll admit was a little apprehensive at first.

OK I just watched the Wizard Products Review. I'm ashamed to say I never have put a video up on YouTube - so I don't know how to demo my handling of this (yet...). However, I could show that what they are saying "doesn't work" is really a function of not having practiced or used it. The only downside to this effect that I see is that you would probably want to make your own with different bills. The check-change idea is not for everybody. I use it because I have been lazy about making a bill change out of this. But it still works. I think there could have been better suggestions for presentations on the DVD. But aren't we supposed to make presentations our own most of the time? It's not hard to come up with something for this. "Anyone want a blank check?... Or maybe you'd rather have cash." I will say that this is best as an "opener" or part of a routine, but it really enhances making you look like you can do real magic.

I find that the mxxxxt does not always hold the gaff closed once I am set for the change. This is especially true when set for a one to two switch, I have not even tried a one to three switch. But obviously if it works for you it works. With the WPR review you almost have to wonder if not all of the gimmicks have the same strength

You could be right. The mxxxxx works with 1 to 3 for me, and very strong with 1 to 2. PM MartÃn Pacheco. I'm sure he'll make it right for you.

[/quote] That is kind of what I wondered..........If the gimmick simply needed breaking in. I was having trouble while initially playing with it. Overall, I really like the concept and will use it when I feel comfortable with its reliability. M

I made one and "doubled up" the thingermabobber (I hate all the XXXX s ) allowing it to hold even more bills.
